Central Mindanao University (CMU) has marked a significant milestone with the official transition of the Palaro, traditionally held during the first semester, to the second semester. The much-anticipated Palaro 2025 officially kicked off following the midterm examinations of the second semester. The week-long Palaro will run from March 24-28, 2025.
This year’s Palaro, carrying the theme “Leap Beyond Limits: Cultivating Global Mindset and Excellence Through Sports,” began with an energetic parade around the campus, followed by an opening salvo performed by the CMU Bidlisiw Sociocultural Troupe. In celebration of Bukidnon’s Kaamulan Festival, CMU Palaro 2025 is also proudly Kaamulan-themed.
Five teams, composed of ten colleges, participated in the event: the Aggie Bulls, CBM Eagles, Striking Sphynx (a combined team of CAS, CON, and CHE), Mighty Orcas (a combined team of COED and CFES), and the Wildcats (formed by COE and CISC). Each team showcased their Saludo Presentation during the opening ceremony, highlighting their unique talents and strong camaraderie.

Dr. Jose S. Valmorida, Vice President for Academic Affairs, shared that the program’s rationale emphasizes CMU Palaro 2025’s commitment to promoting physical fitness and well-being by encouraging students to participate in various sports. By prioritizing exercise, the event underscores its importance for overall health. In addition to physical fitness, the Palaro aims to foster teamwork and leadership skills. Participation in team sports nurtures cooperation, communication, and leadership— vital for personal and professional growth.
Moreover, the event strengthens school spirit and unity through friendly competition, allowing students to showcase their talents while promoting sportsmanship, fair play, and respect. CMU Palaro also fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, helping students from different disciplines build relationships and friendships while cultivating teamwork beyond the classroom.

Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, CMU’s University President, praised the hard work of the Supreme Student Council, the University Sports Council, and all the committees involved in organizing the event. He shared, “What I hope this Palaro brings to all of us, especially to you, is the courage to test your limits, the will to grow, and the joy of playing with purpose.”
The opening program also featured the presentation of the G. & Bb CMU Palaro 2025, the unveiling of the event banner, the formal lighting of the torch and cauldron, and an impressive fireworks display. In addition, booths representing various colleges and organizations, as well as a food bazaar, stretched along Sanchai Road, providing a mix of attractions. [Mary Jane D. Bravo]
