Central Mindanao University (CMU) officially received a prestigious gold plaque for its achievement at the recently concluded 2024 WURI Global Conference in South Korea. CMU has been recognized as one of the worldโs most innovative universities, securing the 208th spot in the WURI Global Top 300 Innovative Universities. In addition to this prestigious ranking, CMU earned distinctions in three key categories: 42nd in “Symbol and Promotion,” 47th in “Entrepreneurial Spirit,” and 59th in “Student Support and Engagement.”
The World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) evaluates the tangible impact of higher education institutions on industry and society, focusing on innovative practices in education, research, and societal engagement. WURI uses 13 categories to assess both the objectives and methodologies of innovation, recognizing universities that excel in creative contributions to societal progress.
The awards were presented during the 2024 WURI Global Conference held at aSSIST University in Seoul, South Korea, on September 25, 2024. The awards were presented by Dr. Kim Jin-Suk, Executive Chair of the WURI Global Conference, and Dr. Cho Dong-Sung, Chair of the WURI Foundation. CMU was represented by Dr. Cecilia O. Bucayong, Director of the Office of Environmental and Safety Management, who presented the institution’s innovations.
Moreover, Dr. Bucayong also received a certificate of appreciation for her leadership in the development of an innovative program for WURI 2024. Her presentation, titled “Transforming Physics Education: A Government-Academe-Industry Partnership in Commercializing Innovative Technology,” highlighted the process of invention and the collaboration between government and private sectors for successful patenting and commercialization.
